Lost Seeds Project, 2024. Dimensions variable.
A series of site-specific installations at Point Nepean National Park Victoria, traditional Country of the Bunurong People, that reflect on the generations of native seeds lost to the lime burning industry.
Before European occupation, this landscape was open, grassy woodland dominated by She-oak (Allocasuarina verticillata), Moonah (Melaleuca lanceolata) and Banksias (Banksia integrifolia).
Over 1500 ‘seeds’ were individually printed on canvas, hand-cut and placed on the interior walls of a bunkered concrete fort surrounded by encroaching coastal vegetation. They gently cling to the lime washed walls and emerge from windblown sands. Perhaps reclaiming their lost territory.
